Shutter Island Review

I haven't been doing a good job updating my blog this past few months. Shame on me! To boot, I retard on writing movie reviews which I doped out since I started doing it. Anyhow, I'd try to start inditing again as much as I could on my free time.

Okay, the first review: Shutter Island. I am not a fan of Mr. DiCaprio and in as much as, I'd start a critique.

Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a federal marshal who, with his fellow Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) , makes their way to Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital to delve the escape of a notorious murderess of her own three children. Almost everyone at Boston harbor institution other than the patients seems a little off center, not to mention Teddy, who brings some of his psychic weight to the job.

While the cinematography is befittingly claustrophobic, the story-line's nimble twists are haphazardly telegraphed while Teddy's reoccurring imagery of his late wife are too many. Regardless of the fact that Teddy is the focus of the flick, Scorsese polishes too many frames off on scourged close-ups, as though he was making sure of DiCaprio's Oscar nomination :)

The concluding jiffies of Shutter Island is a whopping letdown. But I am not to judge so I won't go into details. On a positive note, Shutter Island is undoubtedly not a garden-variety flick. Shutter Island was unexpected in toto.
