Jowa and I just saw the movie Jumper. It's about teleportation and based on a teen-aimed science phantasm emprise novel about a boy who learns that he can teleport and in his adult years discovered that his jumping from place to place to place has no gone unnoticed. Hayden Christensen plays David Rice, jumper who was an awkward as a kid, lonely as an adult and now being hunted by a mysterious white haired agent named Roland played by Samuel L. Jackson. Along the way, David tries to rekindle a childhood romance with his crush Millie played by Rachel Bilson and meets up with Jamie Bell's Griffin to team up and try to kill Roland and his agents that are after them. Why are they after them? According to Roland because only God should have the power to be all places at once. It's 88 minutes that has a lot of well designed action sequences (especially near the end -- I love the car scene), lots of CGI and very little palpable substance. A bigger character problem I noticed is Rachel Bilson. She cannot act. Plain and simple. She acts like a car speaking her lines in a single melodic line while in fierce moments or emotional ones. Christensen seems pretty slack and a little too zany most of the time. Sam Jackson, Diana Lane and Jamie Bell strikes one as too good for this flick. Jumper doesn't bore or draw itself out but it doesn't try much either. It is a throw away picture that could have been tighter and more appealing and absorbing. I can say that 'Jumper' is better than it's ads, but it's an empty film. I've seen much worst adventure flicks latterly that's why I will not give this a low rating. :)
